1. Introduction
Ploy Law ("we", "us", "our") is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website or engage our services, how we use it, and what rights you have in relation to it.
This policy applies to all personal data processed by Ploy Law in connection with our legal practice at 89/5 Ekkamai Road, Khlong Tan Nuea, Bangkok 10110, Thailand. As a legal practice operating in Thailand, we handle personal data in accordance with the Thailand Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (PDPA).
Questions about this policy or how we handle your data may be directed to: [email protected]
2. What personal data we collect
We collect personal data in the following ways:
- Information you provide directly via our website contact form: name, email address, telephone number, and the content of your message.
- Information provided in the course of an engagement: identity documents, financial information, correspondence, and other materials relevant to the legal matter.
- Technical data collected automatically when you visit our website: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit — collected via cookies and analytics tools (see Section 5).
We do not collect sensitive personal data through our website (such as health information or biometric data) unless it is provided by you voluntarily in connection with a legal matter requiring it.
3. How we use your personal data
We use personal data for the following purposes:
- To respond to enquiries submitted through our contact form.
- To assess whether and how we can assist you with a legal matter.
- To carry out and manage the legal services we provide.
- To maintain accurate records of client matters as required by our professional obligations.
- To improve the functionality and content of our website using aggregated analytics data.
- To comply with legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our practice.
The legal basis for processing data submitted through our contact form is your consent. For data processed in connection with an active legal engagement, the basis is the performance of a contract. For data we are required to retain by law, the basis is legal obligation.
4. Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months unless they lead to an engagement. Data relating to active or completed engagements is retained for a minimum of 7 years following the conclusion of the matter, in line with our professional obligations under Thai law. Analytics data is anonymised and not personally identifiable after 26 months.
5. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to support basic functionality and to understand how the site is used. Essential cookies cannot be disabled as they are necessary for the site to operate. Optional analytics cookies may be declined through our cookie consent tool. For full details, please see our Cookie Policy.
6. Third-party services
We may use third-party services that process data on our behalf, including website analytics tools. These service providers are contractually bound to process data only as instructed by us and to maintain appropriate security. We do not sell personal data to third parties, nor do we share it for marketing purposes.
In connection with cross-border legal matters, we may share relevant information with legal counsel in other jurisdictions — this is done only with your knowledge and as necessary to carry out the services you have engaged us to provide.
7. Data security
We hold client data on encrypted systems with access restricted to those who need it to carry out the work. Physical documents are stored securely. We take the sensitivity of family legal matters seriously and apply security measures appropriate to that context. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you in accordance with our obligations under the PDPA.
8. Your rights
Under the Thailand PDPA, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- The right to be informed about how your data is used.
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
- The right to have inaccurate data corrected.
- The right to request erasure of personal data where there is no longer a legal basis for retaining it.
- The right to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
- The right to withdraw consent for processing carried out on that basis.
- The right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Committee of Thailand.
To exercise any of these rights, please write to us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Children's privacy
Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 through our website. Where a legal matter involves children as subjects (rather than as enquirers), we handle that data with particular care and in accordance with our professional obligations.
10. Links to third-party sites
Our website may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies independently.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to inform you directly if your data is affected.
