From the families we've worked with

I came to Ploy Law after receiving a proposed maintenance arrangement that I wasn't sure was fair. They read through the documents carefully and explained — in plain language — where things were standard and where I had room to push back. I didn't feel rushed at any point. The written summary they produced was something I could actually use in conversations with my former husband's lawyers. It made a difference.

My ex-partner and I had an arrangement for our daughter that worked at first, then stopped working as her school situation changed. We needed a revised agreement that covered more — holidays, decisions about tutoring, what happens when one of us travels. Ploy Law handled the drafting with real care for the details. The final document covers everything we'd discussed and is written in a way that doesn't create new arguments by being vague.

The cross-border side of our situation — Thai and Dutch law both involved — was something most lawyers I spoke to declined to deal with directly. Ploy Law took it seriously from the start. They were honest about the complexity and the likely timeline, which I appreciated. The coordination with the Dutch lawyer was handled by them, not by me. It took longer than I'd hoped, but we ended up with an arrangement that works in both countries.

I wasn't sure whether the initial consultation would lead anywhere practical, but it did. The lawyer I spoke with asked questions I hadn't thought to answer and identified an aspect of our maintenance arrangement I'd completely overlooked. The review they produced was thorough and clearly written. I now understand my position much better than I did before.

What I valued most was the pace. My situation with my children's living arrangements wasn't straightforward — there were extended family members involved and some disagreement on both sides about what was best. Ploy Law took the time to understand all of this before drafting anything. The arrangement we ended up with felt like it reflected the actual family, not a generic legal template.

I had assets in both Thailand and Australia and wasn't sure how a separation would affect both. Ploy Law was the only firm I found that was willing to work through the Thai side while coordinating with an Australian family lawyer. They were upfront about what the process involved and didn't over-promise on timelines. The final documentation was comprehensive.

Three client journeys, in detail

Details have been changed to protect client privacy. These accounts reflect the kinds of situations and outcomes that are typical in our work.

situation

Maintenance arrangement no longer reflecting circumstances

A client whose financial circumstances had changed significantly since an original maintenance arrangement was set. The original order hadn't been reviewed in several years, and the client was uncertain whether the changes they'd experienced were relevant under Thai law.

what we did

We reviewed the original order, assessed the client's current financial position against the legal factors under the Civil and Commercial Code, and produced a written summary identifying which factors supported a review application and what a reasonable outcome range might look like.

outcome

The client used the written summary in negotiations with the other party's legal counsel. A revised arrangement was reached without court proceedings, reflecting the changed circumstances. The client later told us that having something concrete to hand in the negotiation had been decisive.

situation

Children's arrangement breaking down as they grew older

Two parents with a child arrangement that had been agreed informally at the time of separation. As the children entered secondary school, the arrangement began to create friction — particularly around extracurricular activities, holidays with extended family, and decisions about schools.

what we did

We conducted detailed intake conversations with both parents (separately) and then drafted a revised arrangement that addressed each area of friction directly. The document covered term-time and holiday schedules, a framework for making decisions about schooling and medical care, and a process for handling significant changes in either parent's circumstances.

outcome

Both parents signed the arrangement and reported that the process had helped them reach a shared understanding of the priorities — not just produce a document. The arrangement has been in use for over a year without significant disagreement.

situation

Separation involving assets and residency across two countries

A couple with Thai and German nationality, assets in both countries, and children with schooling in Bangkok. The separation required coordination between Thai family law and German family law — areas that don't always align in how they treat maintenance, asset division, and children's arrangements.

what we did

We mapped the applicable legal frameworks and identified which aspects of the matter were governed by Thai law and which by German law. We engaged a German family law firm for the European side and coordinated the preparation of arrangements that would carry effect in both jurisdictions. Timelines and costs were discussed at each stage.

outcome

The matter took approximately four months — longer than a domestic Thai matter, as we had advised at the outset. Both parties received documentation with clear legal standing in each country. The children's arrangement covers their time in Bangkok and summer periods in Germany.
